The YMCA: A Community Asset

The Wabash County YMCA has a mission to "Put Christian principles into practice through programs that develop a healthy spirit, mind and body for all."

The mission of the YMCA is built around 4 core values that the employees and volunteers of the YMCA programs strive to exemplify.  These core values are:  Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

In addition to the mission and core values of the YMCA, there is a certain philosophy and vision that has the following points of emphasis:

-YMCA Membership Builds Healthy Lifestyles:  Being a member of the YMCA allows you as an individual to learn principles for a better, healthier lifestyle.  These principles help to develop the spirit, mind and body.

-The YMCA is a place for families:  Whether it is through youth programs or adult programs, the YMCA is a place where the entire family can come together and participate in positive activities.

-NO ONE is turned away:  The YMCA is proud to offer a scholarship program that is available to aid in the cost of membership or program fees.  This is our way of letting everyone know that no matter what, you are welcome at the YMCA! 

-The YMCA is a Community Driven Organization:  Being led by a volunteer board of directors the YMCA is an integral part of the growth of the community.  The board of directors includes, Angie Beauchamp, Brian Dawson, Dee Byerly, Ernie Peas, Fred Squires, Scott Galley, Hope Heller, Joel Stein, Marc Shelley, Mike Dezember, Mark Ford, Rod Cole, Roger Cromer, Scott Dinkins, Skip Daughtry, Steve VanVoorhis, Tammy Ford and Tom Ehret.

-The daily operation of the Wabash County YMCA is led by Julie Echard, our Executive Director. Julie oversees not only the existing YMCA office, but she is also keeping a close eye on the construction of the new facility that is rising into the Wabash skyline. Bill Barrows is our Program Director. He handles the operation of the youth & adult sports programs and oversees the operation of the Field of Dreams.

-The Wabash County YMCA is a Wabash County United Fund Agency.
