     Ground was broken in December of 2007 for the new YMCA facility in downtown Wabash. Progress is ongoing. Follow the ever changing landscape at the corner of South Cass and Erickson Streets. Tenative completion of the new facility is Spring of 2009. Watch us grow!!!!!!

         There are several softball tourneys that are held during selected weekends through September. The NSA holds several of those. The Town & Country State Softball Tourney is in late July. The NSA Adult Co-Ed Tourney will coincide with the YMCA local league in September. See the schedule page for dates and more details.

     HERE ARE DIRECTIONS TO THE MORRETT SPORTS COMPLEX - (Field of Dreams) :

      From the north, east & west: At the intersection of US 24 & State Road 13, go south about one half mile to the entrance of the complex on the west side of the road (on the right) across the street from a car lot.

      From the south: Follow State Road 13 through Wabash to the north side of town. SR 13 becomes Manchester Avenue about one half mile north of downtown Wabash. Follow it to the outskirts of town. A cemetery will appear on the left side of the road. About a quarter of a mile north of it is the entrance to the Sports Complex on the left across from a car lot.

     Follow the parkway about a quarter mile into the complex. The softball fields will be on the left. The soccer & football fields will be in the distance straight ahead. Wabash Little League is on the right.    

         SUMMER FUN CARE CONTINUES!!!!! Summer Fun Care is currently underway.for children entering 1st grade thru entering 7th grade. Summer Fun Care runs thru August 8th weekdays from 6am to 6pm. The cost for Full - Time children is $75 per week for one child. $135 per week for two children (same family) and $175 per week for three children (same family) Part - Time children are 17.50 per day (must attend at least twice a week) Registration forms are available at the YMCA office.

      THE BRITISH ARE COMING!!!!!!!!! The #1 Soccer Camp in the United States & Canada is coming to Wabash and the YMCA this summer. It is a week long camp from July 28th through August 1st that will truly enhance the skill level of any player who attends. The camp will offer several different afge groups from ages 3-4 to high school age. The coaches are specially trained and thrive on making sure that the camp is a positive experience for each player. Innovative methods focus on key soccer techniques, fundamentals and fun within a framework of character development based on respect, responsibility, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship. plues, each player will receive a camp t-shirt as well as a camp soccer ball! The schedule, age groups and fees are as follows:   Ages 3-4  9 to 10am  $60    Ages 4-5  10:10 to 11:40am $75   Ages 6-9   9 to noon  $100   Ages 10-14  1 to 4pm  $100   Grades 9-12  5 to 8pm  $100. Registrations are available at the YMCA office. Registrations can also be made online at: www.challengersports.com

Fall Soccer Registration is underway The deadline is Monday August 4th. See the reistration page for more information.

Tackle Football Registration for Grades 4-6 is from now until Saturday August 9th. On that day, players will be issued equipment & will be weighed in. See the registration page for the form and more information.

Flag Football for Grades 1-3 will begin it's 2nd season this fall. Registration is underway now through Friday August 24th. Again, see the registration page for the form. 

    Fall is the time for the YMCA Co-Ed Softball season. It will run from the week of August 18th through about October 15th and that includes a single elimination tournament. Games will be played on weeknights with possible doubleheaders so that teams can play more than one game a night in some cases. Register you team now!!!! (Download a roster form attached to the Registration Page). All games will be played at the Field of Dreams softball diamonds. Registration fee is $400 per team plus a $15 player fee for each participant ($10 for YMCA members). Registration will be done by team only--no individual entries can be accepted. If anyone would like to play and have no team to play for, contact the YMCA office.

     There will be a mandatory Manager's Meeting on Monday August 11th at the pavilion between the softball-football-soccer fields at 7pm. Each team representative should bring a COMPLETED roster (players not on a roster will not be eligible to play). Team representatives should also be prepared to let the Program Director know of any nights in which said team is unavailable to play. (Although we try hard to accomodate as many requests as possible, we cannot guarantee all requests will be granted.) It is preferred that payment be made and roster turned in to the YMCA office by August 8th. However,they will be accepted at the deadline----the Manager's meeting. (This includes player fees). Please call the YMCA office with any questions at (260) 563-9622. 

As an added bonus, this year each team that is registered with NSA, (all of our teams will be) are eligible to play in the NSA Adult Co-Ed State Tournament that will be held at the Field of Dreams the weekend of September 19th through the 21st. There will be more information on this tournament as it is recieved by the YMCA office. 


 

YMCA SUMMER FUN CARE NEWSLETTER

Week 8

We had a great time at the Wabash County 4-H Fair this past Tuesday. We saw 2 of our Fun Care friends, Kevin & Colt working with their animals, and saw & saw entries of several of our YMCA kids. HOW EXCITING!!!! Great job to our 4-Hers. We are proud of you!

TUESDAY July 22nd - tour of Reins & Rainbows Horse Farm 10:00 - 11:30 NO CHARGE!!!!

TUESDAY July 29th - Kokomo Beach leave at 9:30am - return at approximately 5pm $6 CASH ONLY!

We have 3 more weeks together. PLEASE,  PLEASE make sure that your child has sunscreen for our outdoors playtimes & swimming! THANKS!

This past Thursday, we had our 2nd Talent Show of the summer. WOW! We have such a great time together! Dancing, singing magic tricks, gymnastics, playing piano & skits....these are what good memories are made of!!!!
